To walk off all that fish we ate we walked through the River Market in search of some history. The kids always ask "Why is Little Rock called Little Rock?" We were determined to find out.
We came across this guy. Jenna was the only one who would give him some money. We you put money in his hat he would dance.
I loved these hanging baskets. I think they would look great on my front porch. I tried to get Burk to put a couple in the car but he wouldn't!
La Petite Roche is how Little Rock got its name.
This place was under contruction. We checked the map to find the location of "La Petite Roche" and could not find it. We decided to walk across the river on the pedestrian bridge. We spotted this rock. Could that be it?

Heading to the pedestrian bridge. What is wrong with this picture? Honey is getting a workout!
The view of downtown Little Rock from the bridge.
From the bridge we spotted a playground.
This playground is so cool. From where Marley is she can climb up to the top of the rocks. There are several places like this.
Hey, we spotted another rock. Could this be the "rock?"
Jenna found a tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel was this fun water fountain.
We found more rocks! Could one of these be the "rock?"
According To Wikipedia, I think this last picture is "The Rock." Located near the geographic center of Arkansas, Little Rock derives its name from a small rock formation on the south bank of the Arkansas River called la Petite Roche ("the little rock"). The "little rock" was used by early river traffic as a landmark and became a well-known river crossing.
